This page is dedicated to the hardy pioneers of a small village in the remote downeast area of Maine. The early settlers arrived just prior to and after the Revolutionary War.
Lubec, Washington County, Maine is the most easterly point of the lower 48 states. The earliest settlers were looking for cheap land and fishing opportunities.
Lubec was originally called Plantation No. 8, East of Machias and/or Seward's Neck and included Moose Island, today known as Eastport, Maine.
